Our names are Simone Angeloni and Enea Maffei and we come from Switzerland. We are both nineteen years old and forthcoming university student. Our volunteering at YOSIMASA primary school began the last 27th March after a beautiful boat trip between Battambang and Siem Reap when Mr. Sarath Him took us from the harbor to Tumleap Village.

On Thursday, April 25th, a sudden gust of wind and heavy rain blew off dozens of roof tiles of the main building and brought down the newly built outside classroom. Fortunately, no one was injured in the disaster. The rooftop was repaired and the classes resumed in the following day.

On March 6th, a majority of Tumleap and Tang You villagers gathered at YOSIMASA School. The aim of the convention was to recognize and share the importance of education in the community. Since October 2012, 23 pupils have left YOSIMASA due to family emigration to Thailand or Siem Reap city for job hunting.
Meanwhile, they are not simply aware of the expansion in tourism in the last decade, taking place in Siem Reap city. As of March 2013, over 150 hotels are situated in the city, a big leap when compared to 80 in five years back and 20 in ten years. If children are fluent in foreign languages when they head into the workforce, the odds of being hired for tourism-related jobs will be immensely higher. We sincerely hope that the villagers understand the significance of education and let their children continue their studies at YOSIMASA

The villagers of 22 households are now toiling in the rice field for the first harvest. Due to the severe shortage of rainfall in May, June and July, only 11 acres of the land are to be harvested. A bit behind the schedule, our Job-creation project has been making steady progress.
